    The Good:

Casino's for Texas, The University of Nevada (Las Vegas) have created a vehicle that converts pure water to oxygen and hydrogen  and then uses the hydrogen to fuel the vehicle. Disable the IRS and start a National Tax, that way all ( Visitors illegal and legal will pay their fare share). National Health Plan- it's expensive now but is going to get even more so ($1 in $5.00 going towards Health Care). I believe that every major oil company be required to build a state of the art refinery or be fined an equivalent  amount.

The Bad:

Ethanol (go directly to hydrogen via pure water, not oil see above) Presidential hopefuls bad mouthing each other. Senator Clinton's bad mouth of Gen Petraeus. Higher prices in the near future for animal feed and food products because of the Ethanol's baby step in turning off the oil fix. DA problem in Victoria - getting better (Ratcliff)?, TX. Lobbyist in Washington, D.C.

The Ugly:

TTC/I69, Police, .  18 months of Politics!- it's getting ugly, Nukes in the mideast. Veterans Administration.  Big Oil is not considering any upgrades or new refineries due Bush's push of biodiesel and ethanol in reducing the oil connection, costing the price of fuel to remain high for ever and higher prices for commodities.  Untold millions of dollars are leaving Texas for Casino's in others states! If you don't like gambling, turn the on/off switch to the off position! Victoria,   Texas has a Relocation Crime Lab Index of 222 which is a higher crime rate than the national average, Drug problem, Lack of a National Health Care System

It appears to me that the majority of physicians or their superiors have created an environment to our fine Nation that Health care is for the insured only. The United Stated of America is the only modern, industrialized country on planet Earth that does not have a National Health Plan.

Health Care Still Matters to American Voters   Politicians stay away from the topic of Health and especially Stem-Cell research. I guess that is a problem when State & Church are together.

Hippocratic Oath -- Classical Version

I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panaceia and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfil according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant: more.........

The Hippocratic Oath Today: Meaningless Relic or Invaluable Moral Guide?

"The Oath of Hippocrates," holds the American Medical Association's Code of Medical Ethics (1996 edition), "has remained in Western civilization as an expression of ideal conduct for the physician." Today, most graduating medical-school students swear to some form of the oath, usually a modernized version. Indeed, oath-taking in recent decades has risen to near uniformity, with just 24 percent of U.S. medical schools administering the oath in 1928 to nearly 100 percent today.  more........

You may have heard about the worrisome study released by the Commonwealth Fund that found a growing percentage of working-age Americans in middle income brackets are going without health insurance, rising from 2001-05 to 41 percent.

By the numbers:

  • More than half of Americans making less than $20,000 annually have no health insurance.
  • Some 46 million (and Increasing) Americans have no health coverage, as of 2004, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
  • Almost 60 percent of the uninsured who have chronic conditions (asthma or diabetes) skipped their medicines on occasion or went without them altogether because they were too expensive.  more........

It has been said that an opinion is like a derriere everyone has one!

From time to time I shall express mine, as I usually have several.

A thought about the drug problem, it appears that the druggies in this country are supporting the world terrorism effort, it would seem reasonable to classify the pushers as "enemy combatants" that way we could remove them from general population and put them on an island. It seems to me the only high level person to recognize the problem was Mr. William Bennett (ex Drug Czar) you either make it legal or kill them (we don't do that), our middle of the road approach has not and will not work, a very tough problem - perhaps another feather for Kinky in reducing our prison population, along with casino gaming.

In reviewing the "Thoughts" below, I seem to find a pattern do you?

Perhaps Law Enforcement should publicize the progress being made in stopping hard crime e.g. Murder, Rape, Robbery, burglary. It appears that Victoria, TX has a higher crime rate than the national average, is that possible? See this site.

Please note that the number of crimes reported has been adjusted to yield a rate per 100,000 people.

Annual crime rates per 100,000 people

I would be happy to aid Law Enforcement in placing results in VictoriaTexas.com I see statistics published on occasion about crime rate up or down (I will publish when I find them), but they really need a better PR program. Really, how safe is our county - I feel we are loosing the battle.

I must say that some of the items under "Pet Peeves" are needed.

In Reference to oil - I believe that the American way is always trying to better themselves, their family's, their companies & stock holders! but wait just a second! I strongly believe that the Government should step in and make each major oil company doing business in the U.S. should be forced to build one each, an EPA regulated state of the art oil refinery at a location next to each other away from the coast say West Texas someplace. Probable cost would be 10~20% on one Quarter's profit of 2006! Oil is plentiful, refinery's are not. Give us a brake.

Electrical problems - The nuclear power in this country has been a big problem and will always be until "Government" can get it together. Every nuclear power plant in the U.S. is different (Technology change causes cost to rise) and that problem caused a 2.5 billion problem WPPSS : Washington Public Power Supply System nuclear plants. If the U.S. would find agreement on one design & build several in close proximity - say West Texas. Look what could be gained Training, Spare parts, and Operations are all the same.  Review in 10~15 years and upgrade all at the same time. Russia and France seem to do this well.

Pet Peeves:

I vote for a recall of Steve Tyler, lets get him out of office! I don't recall any problems with Dexter Eaves and the police and he prosecuted many cases. Ethanol is really a poor stop gap measure for reducing our dependence of oil. First the reduction of 10% in oil use sure won't hurt the oil companies any, but since they are reaping huge amount of profits, they won't give it back. Ethanol has given the oil companies a great reason to keep gas prices very high for ever.

If we are to blame the President for every thing that goes wrong, then why not automatically authorize him a line item veto! Then the buck can really stop and the blame also.

Not having or publishing that the countries we are returning the illegal aliens to are not paying the U.S. $5000.00 per returnee! Unless we make their countries pay for their return, they surly won't try to stop them from leaving their countries. Why should we, the tax payers foot the bill.

I think it would be most appropriate if the U.S. would take all illegal aliens who are within the military age requirements, et. al. who  enter the country illegally and place them into the armed services as needed. The following reasons apply:

Provide them a paying job

Teach them a skill

Teach them a language

Allow them to fight for their new country

Understand fully the United States

Hamburger soup:

In a 4 quart pot, brown about 1 lb of hamburger (lean) with a couple of medium onions (thinly sliced or diced) and 2 large cloves of garlic via a garlic press. Pour off any grease, snow cap the meat with onion salt, garlic salt and Ms Dash (snow cap - means a lot) then add about 3 quarts of water, 1 medium can of tomato sauce, 1 small can of tomato paste - mix well.  When close to boiling add 1 cup of white rice. Cook about 30 minutes until rice is done and add more water if needed, soup should be somewhat thick, adjust any salt & pepper to taste as needed.........UMmmmmmm tasty!

Hamburger & Vegetable soup:

In a 4 quart pot, brown about 1 lb of hamburger (lean) with a couple of medium onions (thinly sliced or diced) and 2 large cloves of garlic via a garlic press. Pour off any grease, snow cap the meat with onion salt, garlic salt and Ms Dash (snow cap - means a lot) then add about 3 quarts of water, 1 medium can of tomato sauce, 1 small can of tomato paste - mix well.  When close to boiling add 1/2 cup of white rice and add 1 package of your favorite vegetables. Cook about 30 minutes until rice is done and add more water if needed, soup should be somewhat thick, adjust any salt & pepper to taste as needed.

Potato soup:

Cut up about 1/2 lb of bacon in small pieces and fry under medium heat, takes a little longer but less spatter. Cook until medium crisp. Remove all of  grease and save the bacon.  In a large pot, put about 1 inch or so of water in bottom and bring to boil. Cut up 2 large onions in fairly small pieces and place in large pan and cook until very soft. Meanwhile, peel about 5 lbs or so of potatoes and cut up in about 1 inch squares. When the onions are soft, remove from heat, add water, potatoes, bacon and about 2 cups of frozen corn. Make sure water covers to the top of potatoes and cook until the potatoes are approaching soft. When the potatoes are soft, take a potato masher and gently mash down the mix until about 1/2 or so of the potatoes are mashed, that will help thicken the soup.  Add salt, pepper as desired or I usually add a lot Ms. Dash and Tony Chacheres Creole Seasoning.
